This is a 1937 Dated Mauser S/52 all matching Parabellum in a soft leather shoulder holster that also has belt loops to be worn either way by disconnecting the straps. The Luger is a 9mm, with a 4" (100mm) barrel, hold open, short sear and stock lug. The owner of the gun says that it was taken from a man in civilian cloths by his uncle who thought the man was Gestapo and trying to escape into the civilian population. (1125) |

NOTE: Photographs taken today with the high mega-pixel camera show more than we sometimes can see with the human eye. Serial number placement is in the military ("exposed") style. The serial number appears on the front of the frame, on the side of the locking bolt, on the trigger, on the bottom of the barrel, the side plate, the left side of the receiver, the safety bar, the sear bar, the rear connecting pin, and on the extractor. The frame is a Mauser built with the 2mm extension on the "wings" to protect the rear main axel pin when in full recoil. |

It is entirely subjective to give any Luger a rating of excellent or fine, just as it is to declare it xx% blued or strawed. Few Lugers are out of the box new and these are premium priced. Bluing percentages is like Beauty, in the eye of the beholder. We strive to provide pictures so you can judge for yourself if the gun meets your criteria. |

The holster follows the pattern of the P38; we checked it with a P38 but it didn't fit in length or closure. The leather is soft and appears to be custom made, however, the clasps have RZM markings indicating that there may have been more than one of them made. There is no saddle makers mark inside or outside the holster other than the unit mark stamp for Berlin inside the holster. |

This holster is extraordinary with soft leather, and tightly fitted for the P08. It has the extra matching magazine, detachable chest strap that is RMZ marked, belt loops to be worn as a side arm and a leather snap loop to hold the shoulder holster to your belt. This is clearly a holster designed to be worn concealed. It was probably utilized by a detective or Gestapo agent under their overcoat. |

The holster has a belt fastener when worn as a shoulder holster and is convertible into belt holster using the holster loops. Also attached are the "D" rings where the chest strap with the RZM markings are present. We have never found a holster like this and was obviously designed to be worn concealed due to the soft nature of the holster and accouterments and the versatility of applications. |

Stamped into the inside of the holster is a unit stamp of the Polizei Division SS Berlin 012. Over the years we have seen all types of unit markings but this is the first time we have come across an SS stamp inside the holster. |

The inside of this gun is very clean and well cared for. Police and police units kept their weapons in better condition than field troops and were not subjected to the harsh conditions of the battlefield. Below you can see the serial numbers on the small parts. 1937 was the year that Mauser switched from strawed parts for the trigger, locking lever, magazine release and extractor to bluing. |

Serial numbers appear on the firing pin, breech block along with another military acceptance stamp and on the toggle bolt axle pin. In 1932 the Reichswehrministerium issued an order that the rear connecting pin be serial numbered to the gun followed by the Bavarian Police order for unit armorers to mark those on hand. |
