GERMAN LUGERS FOR THE PREMIUM COLLECTOR

This is a 1939 Chamber dated Mauser S/42 built for contract for the German Army. This Parabellum is 9mm with a 4" (100mm) barrel that is proofed and serial numbered to the gun.  Serial number placement is in the military ("exposed") style.  This example has all matching numbers.  (759)

Photographs are copyrighted, all rights reserved, any extraction, reproduction or display of gun pictures without the express consent of the Phoenix Investment Arms is strictly prohibited. Thank you for your cooperation.

Serial number placement is in the military ("exposed") style.   The serial number appears on the front of the frame, on the side of the locking bolt, on the trigger, on the bottom of the barrel, the side plate,  the left side of the receiver, the safety bar, the sear bar, the rear connecting pin, and on the extractor.

The first toggle link is marked with the S/42 Mauser code.  There is the "V" rear sight on the rear toggle link and the last two digits of the serial number appear. This Luger has a deep blue, almost commercial color to it.  It is in very clean condition and an exceptionally fine piece.

This is a very clean gun with an excellent barrel and all matching including the magazine. Note the last two digits of the serial number on the rear main axel pin.  In 1932 the Reichswehrministerium issued an order that the rear connecting pin be serial numbered to the gun which was required by order in 1933.

It is entirely subjective to give any Luger a rating of excellent or fine, just as it is to declare it xx% blued or strawed. Few Lugers are out of the box new and these are premium priced. Bluing percentages is like Beauty, in the eye of the beholder.   We strive to provide pictures so you can judge for yourself if the gun meets your criteria.

The extractor is marked "GELADEN". The bore is good with distinctive lands and groove.  The thumb safety is new style, and blued. The thumb safety is marked 'Gesichert' and safe is down.

Here we can see the early Mauser Eagle 63 proofs with the straight wings and the early Waffenamt (Ordinance) drooped wing acceptance stamp.

All matching serial numbers are displayed on the front of the frame, bottom of the magazine on the receiver, side plate, and safety to name a few places that represent an all matching Luger.

In 1937 the decision was made to stop straw bluing the trigger, locking lever, thumb safety and magazine release and to salt blue these parts to speed up the production process and reduce costs.

This is a beautiful example of the war time Parabellum dated 1939 and built by Mauser under the S/42 code.  This Luger is being offered for $2,695.00 over-the-counter.  We reserve the right to store sales unless we have a deposit.  Questions to josef@phoenixinvestmentarms.com
