1939 Mauser S/42 Parabellum Left Side

The pistol shows the minor honest wear of war with shiny points at the high ridges where it came in contact with the holster.

Beautifully detailed and struck, the Eagle 63 on the barrel and all the matching serial numbers.  1939 was still a good year for Mauser. Serial number placement is in the military ("exposed") style.   The serial number appears on the front of the frame, on the side of the locking bolt, on the trigger, on the bottom of the barrel, the side plate,  the left side of the receiver, the safety bar, the sear bar, the rear connecting pin, and on the extractor.

Featuring a 100mm (4" barrel) and the Mauser manufactured "hump" at the rear of the frame this is the classic Model 1934 as manufactured for German Military Acceptance as witnessed by the various Eagle 63 Waffen Amt proofs.

Very Clean and all matching the extractor is marked "GELADEN" and the safety is marked "GESICHERT" the German word for safe with the safe being thumb down.

The 1938 S/42 was accepted with all the parts hot salt blued, the rear of the frame had the "Mauser" hump and the proofs included both E63 and Army (Heer) Acceptance proofs.

Below is the serial number on the frame, the barrel and the magazine. This Parabellum has the Type II  magazines E63 proofed. The magazine is serial numbered to the gun. (Above) you can see the Army Test proof on the receiver and barrel.

The inside of the gun is clean and shows the care the gun should receive to keep it another 69 yrs.  Lugers that are stored for any period of time should have the wooden grips at least waxed on the inside to protect contact with the metal.

Matching grips complete this all matching gun.  Proof detail on the right side show the Mauser Eagle 63 and the military acceptance stamp known as the drooped wing eagle used until mid-1939 when the Army test proof became the straight wing eagle with the swastika.

It is entirely subjective to give any Luger a rating of excellent or fine, just as it is to declare it xx% blued or strawed. Few Lugers are out of the box new and these are premium priced. Bluing percentages is like Beauty, in the eye of the beholder.  We strive to provide pictures so you can judge for yourself if the gun meets your criteria.

This battlefield pickup comes with an all matching P08, plus matching magazine in minty condition and is offered for $3,895.00 over-the-counter.  Requests for additional information or pictures to josef@phoenixinvestmentarms.com
