This is a 1907 produced very early American Eagle with the buffed safety but a "Loaded" extractor. This Parabellum is 7.65mm with a 6" (150mm) barrel that is proofed and serial numbered to the gun. Serial number placement is in the commercial ("hidden") style. The barrel is marked "Germany" for export and has a brass bead from target sight. This example has all matching numbers. (955) |

This Parabellum has the short frame and long sear with the grip safety and finely cut diamond walnut grips. The magazine is DWM with a blank bottom customarily found on the commercial Lugers. |

The heavy barrel and five digit serial number place this in 1907 for production. The serial number under the side plate and the absence of proofs. DWM had two assembly lines up until 1907one applied proofs the other did not. This Luger has no B.U.G. proofs and 1907 was the last year this occurred. |

All known writing on the 1907 American Eagle models list the maximum barrel length as 4 3/4" (120mm) or the 150mm Navy model with the rear adjustable sight. This is a very unusual model and may have been a special order with the thick 150mm Navy style barrel. |

It is entirely subjective to give any Luger a rating of excellent or fine, just as it is to declare it xx% blued or strawed. Few Lugers are out of the box new and these are premium priced. Bluing percentages is like Beauty, in the eye of the beholder. We strive to provide pictures so you can judge for yourself if the gun meets your criteria. |

The inside of the gun is clean with all the parts in a good and functional order. The parts are all numbered to the gun and the straw blue is strong as are most of the commercial guns that have not been exposed to battlefield wear. Questions to josef@phoenixinvestmentarms.com BELOW: The evolution of the "safe & loaded" was yet to come in the 1920's commercial guns. At this time DWM was evolving from the 4" 9mm Barrel into the use of the 6" 9mm barrel for the Navy contracts and someone may have paired the to for a sample. |
